Waldemar Maj was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PZU (Chairman of the IPO Committee and Strategy Committee). He was Member of the Supervisory Boards of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Bank BGZ (Chairman of the IPO Steering Committee on behalf of the Ministry of Treasury), TFI Origin, TMS Brokers, and DTP. He was President/CEO of DZ Bank Polska, Vice-President of Bank BGZ/Rabobank Group, and worked in investment banking at UBS in Zurich and IFC/World Bank in Washington D.C. He was a member of the Credit Committee and ALCO, oversaw generally all areas of commercial banking, and was responsible for operational restructuring of DZ Bank and the restructuring of institutional sales at Bank BGZ.

Nicoleta Banica worked for over 10 years in investment banking in UniCredit CAIB Securities Romania, KBC Securities Romania, and ING Romania.

Consumer goods and retail

Waldemar Maj was a Member of the Supervisory Board of Stock Spirits Group (Chairman of the Audit Committee), a portfolio company of Oaktree, a PE fund. At Metropolitan he is engaged in various projects in consumer goods and retail. He also invested in form of equity and shareholder loan in a startup company – The Hard Rock Café – which was built in Warsaw on budget and on schedule.

Telecom and technology

Waldemar Maj was engaged in IT and telecom projects in Metropolitan and McKinsey.  As President/CEO of DZ Bank Polska he was Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Implementation of the Main Banking IT System; the system was implemented in a record time of 7 months and the bank received an award of „Banking Gazette”.

Real estate

Waldemar Maj assisted the Ministry of Treasury in merging real estate assets into Grupa PHN (deal size above EUR 500 mln) and advised the company on its IPO.

Energy and manufacturing industry

Waldemar Maj is a Member of the Supervisory Board of Ergis (Chairman of the Audit Committee) and was a Member of the Supervisory Board of Ciech (Chairman of the Audit Committee), both listed Polish specialty chemical companies. He also served as Vice-President/CFO of PKN ORLEN S.A., a Polish oil refining and marketing company with operations across Eastern Europe and Germany, and was a member of the Supervisory Board of Unipetrol a.s. (a Czech subsidiary of PKN ORLEN) and of the Management Board of AB Mazeikiu Nafta (a Lithuanian subsidiary of PKN ORLEN).

Natural resources

Waldemar Maj as Senior Investment Officer at IFC in Washington, USA Oil, Gas, and Mining Department arranged loans and equity financing for private sector international mining projects – gold, silver, coal, copper in Russia, Central Asia, India, China, Mongolia, and Mexico.

Agribusiness

Waldemar Maj was Vice-President of Bank BGZ, the main agri-focused banking institution in Poland. He was appointed to the Board by Rabobank, the strategic investor and the world leader in Agri banking. He was in charge of a comprehensive development of Agri business line, based on Rabobank best practice.
